Introduction to Prompt Engineering and AI Tools

FOSS-UCEK conducted an online session titled “Introduction to Prompt Engineering and AI Tools”, led by Vaishak V S, to introduce students to Artificial Intelligence, Prompt Engineering, and the growing ecosystem of AI-powered tools. The session combined clear explanations with live demonstrations of various AI tools. Participants explored the fundamentals of AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Transformer models, along with the role of Prompt Engineering in creating effective human-AI interactions. The session also covered prompt best practices such as giving clear instructions, specifying formats, using personas, avoiding bias, and limiting query scope. A wide range of AI tools was showcased for text, image, video, speech, music, and code generation, including Rytr, Jasper, DALL·E 3, Mid journey, Runway ML, Google Veo, Suno, GitHub Copilot, Bolt, v0, Windsurf, and Lovable. The session provided participants with a practical understanding of AI and equipped them with valuable skills to effectively explore and utilize modern AI tools.
